No fancy gear, no special lighting, no expensive camera and no professional training required. Overhead product photography is much simpler than you think. Here are 5 easy tips that you can use today to begin your artistic flat lay product photoshooting journey 🌐
️⃣ Decide on a mood, and then choose the props that will complement the main product and mood. Treasure-hunt around your house and you will be surprised how many things you can find that serve the purpose.
️⃣ Find a textured background to lay your items on. Surfaces like grainy floors, wooden countertops, rusty iron sheets, and hairy rugs, add character to the setting.
️⃣ Think balance when arranging the items in the frame. Crowding all small props on one side and all large items on the other will give your shot a lopsided feel. Distribute the props evenly.
️⃣ Click from many different angles. Approaching the scene from various places helps you view things differently and identify the most flattering frame. Also, shoot wide. You can always crop it later in post-production.
️⃣ Retouch the photo to get the right vibe. Lightroom and Instagram are two easy-to-use apps for quick editing. Run your image through a preset for a cohesive-looking feed.
